As a member of an executive leadership council, you will be expected to contribute your ideas and knowledge to make an organization more effective. The council meets two times a year.
Membership
The Executive Leadership Council is a national organization with the mission of increasing the number of Black CEOs and senior executives in Fortune 1000 companies and on corporate boards worldwide. Members of the Council participate in programs and workshops that enhance their professional growth and network.
They advise the Dean on pertinent issues and act as ambassadors of the college meetings provide a forum for its members to share ideas and network. The Council seeks to develop a network of business leaders in the community and to advance the business community.
Programs
Executive Leadership Council is a global not-for-profit organization whose mission is to increase the number of Black executives in the C-Suite and corporate boards. Founded in 1986, the organization offers programs that train and prepare leaders across all career levels.
The council’s scholarship program offers up to $1.5 million in scholarship money for Black students and graduate students. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2022.
It is available to ambitious Black male and female students from historically black colleges and universities. The purpose of these scholarships is to help Black students get to the executive level faster and become a leader in their organization.
Impact
The ELC recognizes and rewards exceptional leadership in the private and public sectors. The organization provides executive development opportunities to aspiring Black executives, who in turn positively impact the business environment and their communities. The ELC is the largest non-profit networking group dedicated to increasing the number of Black executives in leadership positions.
Corporate partnerships with executive leadership council
Its members include current and former black CEOs and senior executives. The organization offers two-day professional development seminars that empower aspiring managers to reach their full potential. Members are able to learn from leading business and education experts.
Through the partnership with the Executive Leadership Council, CMS can provide resources to help local programs and students to address key challenges that students face. The council works with local programs to create these opportunities for their members.
